“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the  L-RD your G-d will be with you wherever you go.”- Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

The story behind the name of the forget-me-not flower is rooted in Christian lore. It is said that while G-d was walking in the Garden of Eden, He came across a blue flower and asked for its name. The flower, being shy, whispered that it had forgotten its name. In response, G-d named the flower “forget-me-not,” promising that He would not forget it.

I don’t know who made up this story, but it’s a word of mouth tale. The interesting fact is these beautiful delicate blue flowers symbolizes true love, respect, fidelity and devotion.

It is estimated that there are 7,000 to 8,000 promises in the Bible. Each one reflects G-d’s faithfulness from His covenant with Abraham to the hope of eternal life in Jesus Christ.

G-d is much more than a flower. The promises of G-d rings and hold true from generation to generation.

“The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our G-d stands forever.” – Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV)

The scripture promise above is so encouraging to the Believer. It’s very hard to forget if you study and mediate on the Word of G-d – and as you study these promises, it will start to live in your heart, encourage you spiritually and give you hope to share with others who may be discouraged or looking for a promise. You can always depend on G-d’s word!

“Your kingdom will go on and on, and you will rule forever. The L-RD will keep all His promises; He is loyal to all He has made.” – Psalm 145:13 (NCV)

“Let us hold firmly to the hope that we have confessed, because we can trust G-d to do what He promised.” – Hebrews 10:23 (NCV)

Here are a few more of my favorite scripture promises that I love and have referred to quite often in my spiritual walk.

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the L-RD your G-d, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)

“But those who wait on the L-RD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

“And my G-d shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19 (NKJV)

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” – 1 John 5:14-15 (NKJV)

These are such powerful scriptures reminding me that I can trust G-d’s Word, His promises and His love. So, the next time you are going through a storm, or disappointment, have a health scare, or even when your loved one has passed away, there are so many promises that you can encourage yourself with. I can guarantee that it will comfort your hearts (if you open it up to our L-RD and Savior, Jesus Christ).

I will leave you with two more promises.

“Blessed be the G-d and Father of our L-RD Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and G-d of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble,  with  the  comfort with  which  we  ourselves  are  comforted by  G-d.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NKJV)

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” – John 14:27  (NKJV)

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)

May your hearts be encouraged by these scripture promises.
