Sigh....

Why is it important to keep silent sometimes in the marriage?

There are several scripture references in the Bible but the one I want to share is taken from Ecclesiastes 1 - verse 7b - "A time to keep silent, And a time to speak."  This is where wisdom speaks louder than words.

Silence is not weakness or avoidance; it is discernment.

In moments when emotions run high, when understanding is still forming, or when God is doing a quiet work within the heart, this is the time to invite peace and look for clarity. This is important in a marriage, especially when there is tension, disagreements or when you receive an unexpected health diagnosis.

Choosing silence allows us to listen -

  • to God through prayer and His Word,
  • to Others,
  • and to our own spirit.

When its time for us to speak, our words can be seasoned with purpose, humility, love and kindness.

A bonus is to add music while you keep silent (worship, instrumental, coffee/tea time, etc), trust me, it helps.
