True story - our youngest 2 and 1/2 year old granddaughter loves compliments.
"Nona, I love your hair!" my reply - "Thank you!" then she says, "okay, your turn."
These compliments runs from hair, to clothing , to eyes and so forth. Too adorable, but after this blog was posted, I started thinking how that made me feel. This little one noticed my hair and wanted me in turn to give her a compliment about her hair.
In marriage, a sincere compliment is more than kind words, it's a daily reminder of love, value and appreciation that you have for one another.
When spouses affirm one another and be intentional, it strengthens an emotional connection, build confidence and creates a safe space where love can continue go grow.
When you compliment each other, you are saying, "I see you, I appreciate you and you are important to me." These compliments should not only be given when you first marry but when use over time, these simple words will help keep the respect you have for each other alive, soften hard moments (when they come), and nuture the joy that you have in your relationship.
I leave you with these encouraging scriptures that you can share with each other:
Homework for you: Give your spouse a compliment and then say to them, "okay, your turn."
