"Live happily with the woman you love through all the meaningless days of life that God has given you under the sun. The wife God gives you is your reward for all your earthly toil." (Ecclesiastes 9:9)

Celebration in a marriage is relational discipline. What you celebrate, you reinforce and what you reinforce, you multiply.

1. The Theology of Celebration in Marriage

Ecclesiastics 9:9,” Enjoy life with the wife whom you love”
Hebrews 13:4, “Marriage is honorable among all…”
Biblically, marriage is not merely endured; it is enjoyed.  Celebration acknowledges that your spouse is a gift, not an obligation. James 1:17, “Every good gift comes from God.” When you celebrate your spouse, you are indirectly thanking God.

2. The Four (4) Levels of Celebration
*Verbal Celebration
  • Daily affirmation
  • Public honor
  • Gratitude expressed
*Experiential Celebration
  • Date nights
  • Weekend getaways
  • Shared hobbies
* Spiritual Celebration
  • Pray together before and after breakthroughs
  • Celebrate seasons of growth
  • Track and Mark answered prayers
*Intimate Celebration
  • Physical affection
  • Non-sexual touch
  • Intentional intimacy

Key Scriptures:

  • Ecclesiastes 9:9
  • Song of Solomon 4
  • Proverbs 18:21
  • Philippians 4:8

Celebration is not luxury; it is maintenance.  Now go and Celebrate!
